Department of Preventive and Social Medicine

University of Medicine Taunggyi was found on May 2015 and the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine was establish in January 2019 with the first intake of Final Part I M.B., B.S. students. Prof. Dr Chomar Kaung Myint was appointed as Head of Department. One visiting lecturer from University of Medicine 1 took duty for three months. One demonstrator from Anatomy department worked for Preventive and Social Medicine department for five months. One lecturer was appointed during November 2019. During March 2020, two assistant lecturers and one demonstrator were assigned to work for the PSM Department UMTgi. For this moment, PSM department is running with five teaching faculty members and two office staff.

Our department coaches the basic concepts of social medicine, epidemiology, preventive medicine and occupational and environmental health to Final Part I students and now we take the five vertical modules included in integrated curriculum. Then, we functions as practical skills of social medicine, family health and environmental health. In addition, we supervise in improving communication, leadership and teamwork skills by Residential Field Training.
