Class Work
  • Average % of 4 class tests scores and practical test, to be converted to 300.
Formative Assessment
  • Written tutorial, Viva voce, Team-based learning
  • 4 class tests to be carried out in 4 test weeks and 1 practical test
Summative Assessment
  • The 2nd MBBS examination comprises 2 written theory papers of 3 hour duration
    • Paper I: MCQ 40 items with 5 responses calculated for 125%
      MSQ 6 questions calculated for 125%
    • Paper II: MCQ 40 items with 5 responses calculated for 125%
      MSQ 6 questions calculated for 125%
    • Practical (10 questions with 5 minutes duration for each practical) 200%
  • Class work: average % of class test scores to be converted to 300%
  • Pass: overall aggregates 500 / 1000 (50%)
  • Moderation : at least 460/1000 (46 %)
  • Credits: 65 % and above for all subjects
  • Distinctions: 75% and above the examiners are satisfied
  • Supplementary: after 6 weeks
  • F system: 3F

Assessment is inter-university system.Viva only for distinction.

Theory paper (500/1000 marks)

Two theory papers of 3 hrs duration, each on two separate days:

For each paper:

    •    MCQs : 2 hrs (125 marks)
    •    MSQs : 6 questions, all compulsory : 1 hrs (125 marks)

Paper I : 250/1000 marks

    • Introduction to Physiology, Cellular Physiology, Physiology of Blood, Excitable Tissues, Autonomic Nervous System, Cardiovascular System, Respiratory System, Gastrointestinal Physiology.

Paper II : 250/1000 marks

    • Renal Physiology. Regulation of Body Fluid, Endocrinology, Reproduction, Skin and Thermoregulation, Neurophysiology

Practical (200/1000 marks)

Each student will have to go through the tests made up of 10 components ( Principles of the tests, Skills, Data interpretation ) : each of 5 minutes duration

5 min  x  10 = 50 min for each candidate

Criteria for Pass/Fail/Credit/Distinction

Status Criteria
Pass Overall aggregate: 50% in separate compartments (class work, final theory, Practical exam)
Moderated Pass Overall aggregate: 46% in only one compartment
Fail Overall aggregate: less than 46% or
Moderated marks in two compartments
Passed with Distinction

All the following criteria must be fulfilled.
(1) Class work

(a) must have score at least 200/300 marks
(b) must have appeared for all the class tests and scored at least 50% in any of the test.

(2) Final theory paper

(a) must have scored at least 50% in each of the four theory compartments
(b) no un-attempted questions or zero in MSQ
(c) must be of sufficient quality to satisfy the examiners

(3) Practical Paper

(a) must have scored at least 50% in each of the compartments
(b) no un-attempted questions or zero in each of the compartments

(4) Final score: 750/1000 marks and above
(5) In Viva voce, must satisfy by the examiners

Passed with Credit (1) Those students who attain 65% in all subjects in Second MBBS will be awarded CREDIT for that year.
(2) If the total marks score is more than 750/1000, it will be reduced to 740/1000 marks.
