Assessment Rules and Regulation

  • In all classes, only students who have obtainted 75 percent class attendance and who have performed their class work satisfactorily are permitted to sit for the final examination.
  • In addition, para-clinical & clinical students who have failed to attain a 75 percent attendance in clinical postings are debarred from sitting for their respective examinations.
  • Marks obtained from the formative assessment contribute 30 percent towards the marks in the final examination (summative assessment).
  • In the undergraduate final examination, a candidate must obtain 50 percent of the total score for promotion and distinction respectively. 
  • A student who is unable to sit for any examination is considered to have failed, unless he/she has been declared medically unfit by the medical board when exemption is given.
  • Students who cannot sit for any examination due to illness is required to apply for medical leave at least seven days before the final examination. A medical certificate from a consultant duly countersigned by the medical superintendent of the Hospital has to be submitted to the medial board of the University before exemption can be given.
